"Midge" is the solo project of Megan Clancy, a songwriter and multi-instrumentalist originally from the DC area. The project began in Megan's bedroom as a teenager; her 2021 debut single, "Drunk Voicemail," was a GarageBand production made with nothing but a Yeti Blue Mic and Apple earbuds (plus a lot of pent-up adolescent emotional energy).
The song got picked up by the Spotify algorithm, inspiring two more bedroom-pop releases that same year: "Need You Anymore" and the "Karaoke" EP. Since then, Megan has taken her production and songwriting skills beyond the confines of her room as she's learned more about audio engineering, composition, and herself.
Her latest single, "I Want You (Hum My Tune)," is the product of an independent study in music production undertaken during her time as an undergraduate student.
A recent graduate from the University of Virginia, Megan played in two bands during her time there: Logistical Nightmare, a four-piece indie band, and Fair Verona, an all-girl indie-rock band she co-founded. In her third year, Fair Verona was featured in UVA’s student-run newspaper, which discussed its innovation as the university’s only all-girl group. In 2022, her song “Try” was also featured in a Cavalier Daily article highlighting student musicians.
Since moving to her father's hometown of Portland, Maine in the summer of 2025, Megan has been gigging throughout Maine and New England. In addition to performing at local venues, she is currently working on recording new material -- so stay tuned for more releases!
